OPPORTUNITIES AT THE SAVANNAH RIVER SITE
Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineers
Nuclear Safety Associates has been awarded a Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA) from Fluor Government Group to provide Professional Support Services to Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC (SRNS). SRNS is the new M&O contractor for the Savannah River Site their five year contract award from DOE, announced in January, was protested by the incumbent Washington Savannah River Company (WSRC), but that protest was recently denied by the Government Accountability Office (GAO). The 90 day transition period has now started.
NSA has the opportunity to fill needs for multiple criticality safety engineers, nuclear safety engineers, and nuclear safety analysts to support SRS operations via this contractual vehicle. NSA is also anticipating receipt of a BOA from the Parsons-led team that bid on the Liquid Waste contract at SRS (Savannah River Tank Closure, LLC). Senior Criticality Safety Engineer
Job description
Prepare criticality analysis reports and support the SRNS Criticality Safety Program as a qualified Criticality Safety Engineer. Scope of work includes the preparation and technical peer review of Criticality Safety Evaluation Reports (CSERs) to support operations and conducting analyses to include use of Handbook values, hand calculations and complex computer modeling using Monte Carlo Neutral Particle (MCNP) or equivalent to support CSER development. Other work scopes include inspection and surveillance support for project and program fissile material operations in the field.

Job description
Provide hazards and accident support on authorization basis activities for SRNS programs. This position requires a senior level accident analyst capable of performing hazards and accident analysis in accordance with 10 CFR 830 for significant authorization basis activities on various SRNS programs. The person must have demonstrated experience in successfully developing and defending detailed, complex accident analysis (and associated supporting technical bases) on a major DOE facility or project authorization basis.

Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer (7 each)
Job description
Provide nuclear safety support on authorization basis activities for SRNS programs and projects. This position requires a minimum 10 years experience as a nuclear safety engineer capable of performing daily authorization basis activities in accordance with 10 CFR 830 for large complex authorization basis activities on various SRNS programs. The person must have significant experience in a broad array of nuclear safety AB activities at a major DOE site, including experience in DSA development and maintenance, JCOs, USQ screens and evaluations, PISAs, and TSR development and implementation.

Extensive previous experience in writing technical reports, developing and reviewing AB documentation, including PDSAs, DSAs, JCOs and supporting documentation, writing USQ screens/evaluations, and/or performing nuclear safety analysis is required.

Nuclear Safety Engineering Manager/Lead
Job description
Direct the activities of a Project or Program Nuclear Safety organization to assure safe operation, successful chemical processes, and compliance with company policies and procedures. Manage nuclear safety organization in support to SRNS Projects and Programs, including support of daily authorization basics activities including hazard analysis, SAR, JCO, and all phases of nuclear safety work including USQ screens/evaluations. Manage planning support of all phases of AB document maintenance. Ensure implementation of nuclear safety requirements including 10 CFR 830, DOE orders, contract requirements and SRNS procedures. Comprehend and resolve complex problems using unique concepts and techniques. Administer personnel and administrative policies in a fair and unbiased manner. Provide leadership and motivation in directing the activities of the organization. Work with the POC to assure consistent application of engineering principles.
Required Qualifications

BS degree in science or engineering plus a minimum of 15 years experience, including 5 years of direct management of an engineering or nuclear safety organization. An understanding of mechanical, nuclear, electrical, and process engineer and the ability to direct such a wide engineering program. Demonstrated diplomacy and persuasiveness in working through others to meet programmatic and compliance requirements.
